Back up Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. Restore any item in minutes.
DataShield copies Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, Gmail and Drive up to 6 times a day into immutable, encrypted storage. When something is deleted, you restore one email or a whole mailbox from the console.

Backup status by source
| Source | Protected | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Exchange Online Mailboxes, archives | 406 | Healthy |
| OneDrive Personal sites | 398 | Healthy |

Three jobs, done every day without anyone watching.
Automated snapshots
Incremental snapshots run on a schedule, up to 6 times a day. New users are picked up automatically by group rules.
Immutable retention
Backups are written with S3 Object Lock. Nobody, including an admin with stolen credentials, can delete them before the policy ends.
| Policy | Retention | Lock |
|---|---|---|
| All staff | 1 year | On |
| Finance | 7 years | On |
| Leavers | Unlimited | On |
Granular restore
Search by user, date or file name, then put back one message, a folder, a SharePoint library or a Teams channel.
- IT admin restored 1 email to Inbox 2 min, Exchange Online
- IT admin restored /Contracts (214 files) 6 min, OneDrive
- MSP tech exported mailbox to PST Running, 3.8 GB
A restore takes three steps, not a support ticket.
Most data loss is small and urgent: one folder overwritten, one mailbox cleared by a departing employee. DataShield is built so the person who notices can fix it before lunch.
- 01
Find the point in time
Pick a user or site and browse any snapshot, or search across all snapshots by subject, sender or file name.
- 02
Choose where it goes
Restore to the original location, to a new folder so nothing is overwritten, to another user, or download as PST or ZIP.
- 03
Confirm and audit
Each restore is logged with who ran it, what was restored and when, and the item count is checked against the snapshot.
How we protect the copy of your data
A backup holds everything your business has written down, so it is handled with the same care as the original.
- Encryption
- AES-256 at rest with per-tenant keys, TLS 1.2 or higher for every transfer between your tenant and our storage.
- US data regions
- Backups are stored in US regions with a second copy in a separate region. Enterprise customers can choose the region.
- Least-privilege access
- We connect through Microsoft or Google admin consent, never stored passwords. Console sign-in requires MFA, with roles for admin, operator and read-only.
- Immutability
- Object Lock keeps every snapshot unchanged until its retention ends, which protects backups from ransomware and insider deletion.
- Full audit log
- Sign-ins, policy changes, searches, restores and exports are recorded and can be exported to CSV.
- Export and deletion
- Export your data at any time. After cancellation you have 30 days to export, then every backup is deleted and we confirm it in writing.
Questions IT teams ask first
Doesn't Microsoft or Google already back up my data?
They keep the service available, but under the shared responsibility model the data inside your tenant is yours to protect. Recycle bins and retention holds expire, and a deleted or overwritten item can be gone for good. DataShield keeps a separate copy outside your tenant.
How often are backups taken?
Essentials takes 3 snapshots per day and Business takes up to 6. Each snapshot is incremental, so only changed items are copied after the first full backup.
How long are backups kept?
Essentials keeps snapshots for 1 year. Business and Enterprise support unlimited retention, and you can set different policies per group of users.
What formats can I export to?
Mailboxes export to PST, files and sites to ZIP with folder structure intact. You can also restore in place, to a new folder, or to a different user.
What happens to my backups if I cancel?
You keep read and export access for 30 days. After that, all backup data for your tenant is permanently deleted and we confirm the deletion by email.
Do you support MSPs managing several tenants?
Yes. The partner console lists every customer tenant with its backup health, and lets technicians run restores without switching logins. Contact sales for partner pricing.
Your first full backup can finish this week.
Start a 14-day trial with every restore feature switched on. No card is needed, and trial backups are deleted if you don't continue.
